Already living in Auvergne and want to make contact?
This is a mixed congregation and one which is constantly evolving. While many of our parishioners are younger American families who are with us in Clermont often for a fixed period of time, a number of our members have moved permanently to the Auvergne. While our younger families tend to live in Clermont itself, others come to us over considerable distances from the larger region. Some of these are very regular members of our worshiping community. Others we see from time to time and they attend when they are able. You might choose to note the handful of key events which take place in the course of the year.
- Our welcome back picnic in September
- Our parish “away day” in September
- Our Thanksgiving Lunch on a Sunday close to American Thanksgiving in November
- Our service of Lessons and Carols in December
- Our Seder Supper during Holy Week
- Other special services for Holy Week and Easter
- Our open air church service on top of Plateau Gergovie in the late Spring or early Summer
Our services of worship are open to all. Baptized members of all Christian denominations are encouraged to receive Holy Communion with us on Sunday. We are keenly aware, as a parish in the Anglican tradition, that we minister to our entire geographic community and not merely to core members. We are pleased to have a larger constituency – people who look to us for pastoral ministry in times of family crisis or for friendship and occasional contact but who may live at too great a distance to be with us every Sunday and on board with all our weekly activities. You may live in Vichy, Issoire, Thiers or elsewhere in the Auvergne. You can still be an integral member of our community. Through our Facebook page (which you must ‘friend’ in order to access) and by asking to receive our small weekly bulletin by email you can still be kept in the loop about the “goings on” at Christ Church. You are welcome here. We’re looking forward to meeting you.
